BRIDGE OF WONDER
We are excited to announce we have been selected to create a new public artwork for the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport's future 2030 expansion! Our work will be on a bridge that connects passengers arriving and departing at the new airport.
Bridges are more than structures—they are devices for transformation. Each crossing marks a shift: leaving or returning home, beginning something new, or finding connection. Some bridges bring us together, linking families, friends, and communities.
We’re curious about the bridges Austin has lived with—personal, metaphorical, and physical.
Share a bridge from your own life, real or imagined.
You might draw a magical bridge you dream of building someday,
photograph a favorite bridge in Austin (perhaps one you cross every day to work),
build a bridge from everyday materials at home,
or spend some time writing about a bridge you’ve crossed in your life.
There’s no right or wrong way to participate—follow your curiosity.

This initiative is part of a larger public art project exploring how spaces—like bridges—hold memory and meaning. Your submission will help shape ideas for a new large-scale public artwork by Hillerbrand+Magsamen for Austin-Bergstrom International Airport’s new Arrivals and Departure Hall (estimated to open in the early 2030s).

The City of Austin through the Art in Public Places Program and sponsored by Austin Aviation
